And here’s where I introduce myself.

Hey, my name is Sarah. Occasionally Sare, Sar or Saz. I'm a writer of short fiction, poetry, essays, interviews and more. I also work as an advertising creative in an independent agency. In 2022, I became a creative PhD candidate at the University of Technology Sydney (UTS) researching the representation of Australian queer and fat bodies in science fiction. Exciting stuff.

  • In 2016 I completed a Bachelor of Arts in Communication (Writing and Cultural Studies) with First Class Honours at UTS. My creative thesis was on the representation of women in science fiction. As part of this project, I wrote five feminist science fiction short films.

  • I started my career as a social media manager and content creator. Working with clients such as Cartoon Network, Warner TV, Toonami, ASTRA and the Dally M Awards, I crafted memes, ran livestreams, photographed footballers and reported on how well everything performed (the memes were hit or miss). After my degree, I jumped into advertising where I kicked around the strategy department for a couple of years as a planner. I then successfully completed AWARD School with two ideas in the showcase and became a full time advertising creative. Now I work as a copywriter in an independent agency where I get to make a bunch of fun ideas happen.

  • I am a recipient of the Research Excellence Scholarship at UTS. I’ve been interviewed here and there about my work. In 2022 I was a TikTok Young Lions Finalist. I’ve been Highly Commended in the Siren Awards for multiple radio campaigns and shortlisted for the 2021 B&T Best Radio Campaign. I managed to wrangle two ideas into the showcase of AWARD school. And I was a poetry finalist for the Monash Prize at the Emerging Writers’ Festival.
